An Artist's Garden

I decided to play and enjoy being silly in one of my gardens. I'll keep you posted as to the growth. I hope to have beautiful flowers to sketch and cut for bouquets! I have a few rules I want to adhere to. I won't buy anything new to add to the structures of this play garden....I can buy plants if I fall in love with one or two. However mostly I'm growing cut flowers from seed.

Circle Text Poetry

Something fun & interesting to try!

After listening to CraftCast, which is a podcast where the host interviews people who are in the creative industries, I was inspired to try my hand at what a guest had described as a creative spark activity. Dayle Doroshow explained how she has used this prompt in classes she teaches. It is called "Circle Text Poetry". You simply find some text (say a magazine article), begin by circling words from the article. The words are simply what ever you pick...what stands out to you. Then take the circled words and copy them down in same order on the page. See what happens...the following are 3 examples I had tried. (I came up with the titles after I read my words. I also either combined the words together or split them up...depending on how I wanted to emphasize their meanings.)

Circle Text Poetry

Just tried a fun idea for a Creative Spark. I heard this prompt on another podcast I listen to call Craft Cast. She was interviewing Dayle Doroshow who used this idea for a class she gave on creativity. You take any text and just circle any word that strikes you. When you are done, write down the words you just circled and see what comes up. Here are three of mine!
