I've Learned So Much
I'm still finding my voice
It is hard to price your work
I need a body of work
Standardize my work sizes
I found a printer to work with
I had slides and professional photos of some of my work
I made a spreadsheet for my art work
I brought more to this show than the last one
Once a year is the right amount for me
I have a lot of wonderful friends

My boys are my fans
I have a great husband
I'm a lucky girl

Thanks to my friends for supporting me and coming out to visit. It was a lot of fun to have you all come by. This was a lot of work to get together, yet I feel it is important to at least once a year step back and see what you have done. I feel you have to put yourself out there to grow. My teachers came by as well and were supportive of my efforts too. Just a sampling of my work I have now. I brought 11 paintings and 30 notecards to the show.

Classroom Update

Spring House Day One

As you can see I keep layering color...hoping that I'll like it when I'm finished. Remember I have to use some particular colors the teacher has asked for.

Spring House: Completed

I like the whimsical feel of the gnome/elf. He is actually in my garden at home! I'm happy with the tulips and cone flowers too. Some parts I may rework after I get it back from the teacher, or maybe not!

Beginning Painting Class: Assginment Still Life

The teacher sets up a still life and we are to paint it any way we want. We have to make 6 sketches first and then pick one with the teacher's approval.

Well, here is what I did on the first day. I keep my paintings on the mantle at home to view them and decide how I want to work on them. I never know with some of these how I will like them in the end.

My Color Design Class

This is a summary thus far of what we've been doing in my other class, called "Color Design".We started out exploring the medium we were going to work in - Gouache. This is like watercolors except that you can get an opaque quality to it. Here is only one of the assignments we did in this exploration stage. This is a color spiral using all the 18 colors in our Gouache set.

We were to not repeat any colors. He wanted to see all the greys and browns we could produce. It was tedious at first, but a cool finish in the end. I gained experience in mixing these Gouache paints and seeing the range of colors I could get.

1. Seasonal Plate Series: Monochromatic House

The main assignments in this class are going to be this series of "plate" paintings. We will do 5 paintings. This first one is a Monochromatic (one color) depiction of a house. We were required to have the following items, and have references to work from.

1. One color choice (I picked Burnt Sienna) and blend it with grey, white and black for the monochromatic effect.
2. House
3. Mountains in distance
4. Trees
5. Garden
6. Path

2. Primary colors of Red, Yellow, Blue and Green had to be included somehow
3. NO BLUE SNOW - only earthy tones with whites.
